'Anchorman 2' to Have Musical Numbers a La 'Les Miserables'

Luke Wilson, Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell, Steve CarellIt's been a while since fans last heard about Adam McKay's "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" project. Making sure that the comedy film is still happening, the director shares some updates on the sequel to 2004's "Anchorman". He reveals that the forthcoming Will Ferrell-starring flick will be more of a musical pic that features songs from the scrapped "Anchorman" Broadway show.

"There will be some music in 'Anchorman 2' though for sure, we have some songs already written," McKay tells The Playlist before explaining what took him so long to make the sequel. "We were going to do 'Anchorman 2' as a Broadway musical first, for like six months and then go shoot the movie. That was our initial idea," he opens up.

Elaborating further about the plan to bring musical element to "Anchorman 2", McKay says that he will likely require his actors to perform the songs live a la "Les Miserables". He says, "Whole song sequences, absolutely. The music sequences we have done - we did 'Afternoon Delight' [in 'Anchorman'], Adam Scott and his family singing 'Sweet Child O' Mine' [in 'Step Brothers'], we did a whole song for 'Talladega Nights' that got cut out, a big, big musical number - we always do it live on the set."

"And my thing is, if the actors get freaked out, don't sweat it, we can always re-record it later," he notes. "And every time we've done it, we end up using the live track from the recording. We'll probably do it the same way in this." He goes on hinting that there might also be some dance scenes in the film, "This one might have a little more movement in it, and the only problem with that is the actors get winded."

Of the film's plot details, McKay says, "Even though it's going to be a big silly movie, it's all about the rise of the new media and 24 hour news cycle, and there's a lot of interesting points to make about that while being silly." He continues that Ferrell's Ron Burgundy might have some "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"-esque moment in the sequel.

"It's been discussed, there's a little wisp of [talk]. We'd never do it straight ahead, we gotta f*** with it in some way. Because Ron Burgundy isn't quite Jimmy Stewart in character, so if he does, he's not going to do it well," he explains. "But there's a little bit of that going on. I mean what is this 24 hours news, and this wall of white noise information, has it really been good for our country? The great thing when you find a point of view like that is that it doesn't have to be preachy or didactic, it's also funny."

"It's just funny that Americans have to contend with 2000 channels, and 60 different specific news sources, and the confusion that it creates, and the junk that we get to see is hilarious. That's what we're always kinda looking for, what's the point of view that's got life to it and plays."

Keeping the tradition to feature big names as cameos in the "Anchorman" franchise, McKay promises the sequel will involve "a murderer's row of the best day players ever." He adds, "Like having every single one line or three line role, just be someone we just love. Someone like Ian Roberts or Rob Huebel or Paula Killen - just making sure every day player is a homerun."

In addition to Ferrell, "Anchorman 2" will bring back Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate to its cast ensemble. The movie still hasn't got a U.S. release date.

I'm excited to get back on stage tonight and rock it out with Shawn. Remember to vote for #TeamShawnough!"

Taylor Swift Doesn't Like to Wear the Pants in a Relationship

Taylor SwiftHaving her fair share of high-profile breakups in the public eye, Taylor Swift says her past relationship has taught her how to make a relationship work. Unlike in her professional career where she's in total control of every decision, the 22-year-old country/pop singer chooses to hand over the reins to her man when she's in a relationship.

"It needs to be equal. If I feel too much like I'm wearing the pants, I start to feel uncomfortable, and then we break up," she says in the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar. "It's wonderful to hand over the reins to your boyfriend when you control so much of these big, high-pressure decisions, you know? That is a huge defining factor in who you choose to be with."

When a relationship sours, Taylor copes with her heartache by turning to music. "Some combinations of people are toxic, you know? You have to find the right one that isn't just going to explode into fiery ash and destruction," she explains. "Despite all of that and how unpleasant it is, as a writer you get a lot from it. It's a crazy justification system. You know that guy you really wish you could erase from your memory? But then the answer is track six, eight, 12, and 13."

Another thing that helps is avoiding gossips. "What I had to learn to do, in order to maintain a general happiness in my life, was to stop reading everything," she opens up. "It gets really bad if you go through a breakup and those blogs have these polls asking, 'Who should they date next?' And you're just sitting there staring at the laptop bawling."

While she's not comfortable of wearing the pants in a relationship, she also literally doesn't like to wear them in daily basis. "There's just something so feminine about a dress," she insists. "Whether it's a summertime dress that makes me feel carefree, an evening cocktail dress that makes me feel fancy or a vintage dress that makes me feel like a '50s housewife - which I enjoy feeling like, for some reason - I just really like dresses."

Although she loves dresses, Taylor is not really comfortable of having tons of clothes and shopping for new ones. As a public figure, she doesn't have much choice as explaining, "I'm in a predicament where I can't wear a dress twice or else it's pointed out in magazines. So unfortunately I have to shop for dresses all the time."

Of having complete control of her career, she says it's a necessity. "When I'm in management meetings when we're deciding my future, those decisions are left up to me," she says. "I'm the one who has to go out and fulfill all these obligations, so I should be able to choose which ones I do or not. That's the part of my life where I feel most in control."

While she couldn't trust tabloids, she could always rely on her friends like Emma Stone and Selena Gomez for support. The girl, who's linked to Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer and Conor Kennedy in the past, says, "We never talk about fashion, about career, about our ambitions or our projects. We just talk about relationships, feelings, love and boys."
